POMPEY TO TOUR GREECE AND TURKEY
Jamie Redknapp will partake in his first duty as assistant manager, taking Portsmouth on a tour of Greece and Turkey, where they will face tough opposition in the form of AEK Athens, Olympiakos, Galatasaray and Fernabache. Pompey’s assistant manager will be left to his own devices as manager Harry Redknapp deals with transfers back in England.
The tour will be a tough examination of the managerial skills Jamie has, with the games all tipped to be nail biting encounters. The fanatical support the Greek and Turkish fans have for their teams will indeed play a huge part in the matches, as well as the extremely humid conditions that are expected to play havoc with the teams preparations and stamina during the match.
The games will be good preparation for Portsmouth’s season ahead which include it’s first birth in European football. Their season starting on the 3rd of August with the Community Shield match against Manchester United. Followed by the club’s opening game of the Premier League season against Bolton at Fratton Park.
Portsmouth will fly out to Greece in two weeks, enough time for Harry Redknapp to add a few players to the squad with rumours that he is on the verge of making a number of changes to the team.
