ARSENAL, MAN CITY RELEGATED AFTER MATCH FIXING SCANDAL

Two of the Premier League’s top teams will face a year in the Championship after they were found guilty of match fixing. An FA report into the matter, was released to the media this morning, it contained detailed accounts of a sting set up by the FA to stop what they say is a huge problem in the sport. The report was damning in its portrayal of incidents involving coaches and players from both teams, with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, a main player in the scandal.

Needless to say Mr Wenger has been sacked by the Arsenal board and faces a life ban from coaching in Europe, a ban in England already in place for the disgraced Frenchman. Due to ongoing investigations into the matter, players involved in the bust have not been named, but the FA is adamant these players would all face hefty fines, with some even looking at prison terms, with the matter handed over to English police.

Arsenal and Man City fans took to the streets on hearing the news, with many heading to their clubs headquarters demanding answers. Arsenal’s latest signing Samir Nasri is said to be looking to break his contract with the club, a reaction we expect many of the Arsenal and Man City players to take in the next few days with a number of Premier League clubs already showing interest in the limitless amount of talent both sides have to offer.

Arsenal will now look for a new manager, before a season that will be tough for the club. The prospect for both sides facing a year in the championship, not only hurting the club’s record, but also their bank balance, with sponsorship and television deals almost certainly being withdrawn in the next few days.

The news coming as a shock to some but great news for Derby County and Birmingham who will get a second shot in the Premier League this season along with Coventry City, Watford and Southampton, the three teams promoted from the Championship. Wigan Athletic the other team to be relegated finishing last in last seasons Premier League and facing a battle to make it back into the top division.

If Arsenal and Manchester manager to hang on to a number of players for the season ahead, expect an easy run in the Championship with next to no competition for the two teams other than each other. This should see both teams back in the Premier League next season, but this is football and stranger things have happened .
