I would really like to see EA-Games being released for Linux (looking at my nickname, I think that's quite obvious ).

Why should EA release games for Linux? Well, in my opinion, it's a very obvious choice. It's been a while since Microsoft released Windows Vista. A lot of people were very dissattisfied with Microsoft's youngest operating system. A lot of Windows-users have switched to other operating systems since the release of Windows Vista.

You can read about it everywhere. More and more people are switching to a Mac and the number of Linux-users is also increasing rappidly. I know about a couple of friends and students from my school who switched to Linux or Mac. When you look at my nickname you see I switched to Linux too. I've always had an interest in Linux. Last year I've started using Linux more and more and I've switched completely to Linux in December 2007. All of my PCs and my laptop are running Linux now (Ubuntu 8.04 to be more specific and from Decemer 2007 till April 2008 Ubuntu 7.10).

I love to play games, but it's a shame there are so little games for non-Windows operating systems. Almost every developer develops games only for Windows. Obvious, because "everyone" uses Windows and games for non-Windows-systems are not proffitable enough. Well, like I said, there are always more people who are switching to other operating systems. Many people want to break out of Microsoft's jail. Many non-gamers have already done this, but gamers can't, because of the lack of game-support for other operating systems.

People use Windows because of the following reasons:
- They are forced to use it, because it's installed on their PC. When they bought there PC, it came with an operating system from Microsoft and because PC's are always being sold with Windows, they don't even know there are other operating systems than Windows;
- They know about other operating systems, but they can't use them, because there's no support for the software they use, which includes games;
- They know about other operating system, but in their opinion those operating systems suck, although they never tried a non-Windows operating system (those people are also known by the name of "Fanboy").

I know about a lot of gamers who would like to use Linux, but can't do it, because they like to play games on their PC, so they are forced to use Windows. At my school I've heard many students say: "Windows sucks and I'd like to use Linux, but I still use Windows, because I'm a gamer."

When games are also being released for other operating systems, gamers can break out of Microsoft's jail too. I've recently bought my first Linux-game and I'd like to buy more Linux-games. Like I said, many people have already switched to Linux and Mac and when there are games for their operating systems they'll buy games for it. Like I said, many gamers want to use Linux or Mac. When developers release games for Linux and Mac, those gamers can switch to these other operating systems and they will buy games for Linux and Mac.

The percentage of Windows-users has never been so low as of nowadays. In my opinion this is the right time to start developing and publishing games for Linux and Mac OS. Nowadays I think games for non-Windows operating systems will be proffitable enough.

Developing only for Windows is forcing PC-Gamers to use Windows. Everyone must have the right to choose which operating systems he uses, just like console-gamers can choose at which console they play. EA releases their games for every console and handheld. These gamers have a choice. They can choose on which console or handheld they play a game. Why are PC-Gamers forced to use Windows? Why don't we have a choice? EA is a multiplatform developer and publisher, but not completely. Multiplatform also includes more operating systems than only Windows.

EA already has released some games for Mac OS and now Spore is comming to the Mac too. Good choice to bring Spore to the Mac, but in my opinion it's not enough. They also have to support Linux and they have to do it for much more games. I'd really like to see EA release all of their games for Linux, Mac OS and Windows. Well, "all games" means "all games they develop inhouse", because they can't force Crytek to drop DirectX and develop Crysis in OpenGL, but releasing every Sims-game, Need For Speed, FIFA and so on for _EVERY_ platform would be really great.
