Stoke City have pulled out of the race to sign Scott Carson.
The Potters had agreed a £3.5million fee for the Liverpool goalkeeper earlier this month, but they have now revealed they are no longer interested.
A statement on their official website confirmed that they had halted their approach for the 22-year-old England international.
"We can announce we are no longer pursuing Liverpool goalkeeper Scott Carson," said the statement.
"The club will continue to look to improve the squad and remain hopeful of closing in on several new signings ahead of the Premier League campaign."
Now West Brom have emerged as favourites to land Carson, who spent last season on loan at Aston Villa and has also been linked with Blackburn and Middlesbrough. |
