Yeah,
and to further that- you need trophies to advance to the next "level." Platinum helps the most towards the next level, but there is only one platinum per game I believe. The next best is gold and there might be a couple, silver follows that and there will be quite a few, whilst bronze will only help a little bit but will be abundant throughout the new games and/or patched old ones.
