Disappointed Chelsea settle for draw:
Chelsea F.C were held to a 1-1 draw last night by Spanish champions real Madrid at Stamford bridge.
The game took a while to get going, but in the 16th minute arrived the first chance of the match. Lampard found the back of the net but was ruled offside.
It took another 19 minutes for the game to produce another chance, with Lukas Podolski playing a great through ball to Lampard who slotted it home, and this time the linesman's flag did not save the Galacticos. But after the goal. Madrid began to attack. A poor clearance from LB Juliano Belletti was gobbled up by Snejider who laid it off for Guti, who slotted it past Cech on 39 minutes to make it 1-1.
After half time Chelsea resumed its control over the game. In the 55th minute Lampard had a one on one chance to beat Casillas but butchered the chance, his shot well over the cross-bar. On74 minutes Real nearly stole it when Robinho's chip looked to have found its way into the net, and would have if Juliano Belletti hadn't cleared it of the line with a header. Two minutes later Malouda made way for Joe Cole.
But the game finished 1-1
Chelsea 1-1 Real Madrid
