This thread really goes on and off subject, it seems people get so offended when you mention the ages of the people playing.
I completely agree with Mazdor and Kelborn, it so annoying that in almost every thread when some1 suggests something new, someone esle has to ruin it with a 'but that wont b suitable 4 children'
Yes children do play sims, but the majority of gamers SEEM TO BE teens and young adults, and im basing that information on polls that ive seen hosted on numerous sites, not on the ppl i know who play the game.
And i completely agree with NiaCrenshaw, i have a 7yr old sister who is always pestering me to let her play, but she doesnt really know how to manage them efficiently (good thing they have free will), and she takes 4ever 2 read the popups... nevertheles, even if she was good at the game, i would NEVER let her see sims making out (lol the caressing bottoms part) let alone woohoo, at that age they still giggle at people kissing in real life.
And its true that at the end of the day people dont even really pay attention to the ratings (has anyone witnessed a 10yr old being refused by the teller at a game shop for buying a 12+? {er, im afraid im gonna have to see some ID}), but if anyone wants to complain first check and make sure the 'little one' who you say plays the game is within the RATED age limit.
So in the end, i dont want ea to cut back on alot of things because they may be unsuitable for younger audiences who play the game. If the game is rated 12+ then content that simmers want should be considered if suitable 4 12+, for example when discussing the teenage pregnancy issue, the developers shouldnt be worrying about how will poor 6yr old Susuan be influenced when her teen sim falls pregnant, but more along the lines of 'will it be more realistic/fun/challenging if teens could fall pregnant'.
