Young people do play the sims. I started playing the sims 1 when I was 10 - I looked on the box and it had a suggested rating of 11+. My parents deemed that I was mature enough to handle it. If the game had been rated 13+ then I would probably hve had to wait a while...

The sims 2 base game (or my gase game at least) is rated 7+ - my expansions are rated 12+.

As far as I know, someone who is 12 is considered a kid, and someone who is 7 can't be much else other than a kid.

The sims 2 has a wide audience. There is a huge difference in a 12 year old's knowledge of the world, and a 15 year old's knowledge of the world. The sims is not created for adults, teens and young teens/children.

I will admit though, that the excuse of 'what about the children' is grating on me too.

But that's not why I don't want teen prgnancy, abortion, etc in my game.

I don't want them because although the sims 2 is a life stimulator, it's a lighthearted and sugar coated one. Even the bad things such as death are presented in a humourous matter. The sims has always presented a very innocent, pure kind of simulation game, and I think it should stay that way.
