I have a problem with my red pad but I don't for one second believe there has been a concerted effort by Harmonix or EA to ship known faulty, or refurbished, hardware to the EU. It's completely illegal and I don't think they would be under any illusions that they wouldn't get found out.

I do however believe it plausible that some vendors maybe shipping refurbed drum kits to consumers. However I think the more likely scenario is that the EU have received a lot of drum kits that have been sitting in warehouses for a long time. The main reason I think this is because my drum kit has the serial number ending in EL which were the first iteration of the drum kit released in the US which was renown for being faulty. It was replaced by the QM and more recently the SL - why then are the EU getting EL kits? Because they were manufactured some time ago and have been sitting there in storage until whatever issues which delayed RB coming to the EU were resolved.
