Did the install run smoothly for you? And have you got all background tasks disabled while you try to run the game?
It may well be worth contacting
EA Support fully outlining your problem and if possible attaching the dxdiag for your system.
I did see that someone else had this problem on the Tilted Mill forum but unfortunately the resolution to the issue was not posted.
