Well, pretty much the entire first page of this thread is full of people saying the patch doesnt work, because the download was corrupted:
Update 1.40 with Highway Tampa Released
Same with the website i downloaded it from:

Lots of comments wondering why it doesnt work.
And then, if you managed to get a full patch, half the time it wouldnt let people install it because it said they had a newer version, when they didn't, and the solution was to install the game from scratch, even though it was a full patch, and should update any version to 1.4.
It was just a perfect example of the level of bad coding, and lack of care that i've come to expect from EA.
As far as i'm concerned, that classes as disastrous. Especially after months and months and months (and months) of beta testing.
