You don't need to buy a GTX 295!
You can get excellent frame rates with a single card only.
Yes its certainly the best graphics card avaiable in the market.
But it costs between 400-500 pounds. And its useless buying that card because in a few months time DirectX 11 will arrive and that card literally becomes useless.
I mean, not so useless but psychologically it will hurt the person who bought it for so much money, only to find it that he is stucked at playing on DX 10!
One of the best single graphics card on the market, that is bang for the money is the ATI Radeon HD 4890 OC card!
SAPPHIRE HD 4890 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E OC
This is the card I use at the moment. I run Crysis/Warhead on 1920x1200 resolution absolutely lagless and on enthusiastic settings on top of that playing it on a 24 inch monitor, couldn't get any better.

Well I bought the overclocked edition from ebay brand new!
And guess how much it costs? Well Only like £179.99. At that price its a steal!!! But now the standard card that is not overclocked can be bought for only £140.
And the added bonus of it having DX 10.1 better than 10.
So at the end of the day the choice is really personal. Either spend less than £200 on a 4890 Overclocked edition that is level on par with Nvidias GTX 285 and cost almost twice as less or splash the cash £300-£500!
When it comes to gaming on PC its really important that you buy your components wisely. If you don't then you'll be splashing thousands of pounds.
And this is one of the reasons why almost all Console gamers think that you require a thousand pound gaming PC to run games, no you don't!
