If I played with a custom formation, I think I would probably stand a better chance of winning the tournament, this doesn't mean I want them to be allowed. With £5,000 for the winner, I think the right person should win, and not someone who gets lucky throughout with 7 in defence, which lacks a lot of the skill needed to play with the standard formations.
For me personally anyway, I would see MYM as a 'n00b' tournament compared to the likes of i-series, FIWC & WCG if you allow the 'park the bus' custom formations.
