Well firstly, thanks, Emma, i feel like i should have joined the forums earlier.
Secondly, yes, i did just entirely uninstall it and re-install, applying patch 3. And thirdly, i simply must ask, what in the hell is the point in offering to keep your saved data when it's uninstalling if it never shows up? I mean, with the planets and stuff, i can restart those, but all my creatures? I worked hard to get what i had, really put my heart and soul into my two main creatures, and it hurts me to think that the files are right there, yet the game seems to refuse to want to read them.
