Name: Esteban Matías Cambiasso

Cambiasso joined Inter in 2004, after proving his abilities with Real Madrid. He won 4 trophies with Real, before signing for Internazionale on a free transfer. Esteban Cambiasso’s impact was immediate, as he was an outstanding performer in the side that lifted the Italian Cup in his first season. Although Cambiasso is Argentinean, he also holds an Italian passport. The defensive midfielder is likely to be the platform on which José Mourinho’s side will build on for season’s to come. To date, Cambiasso has made over 150 appearances for Nerazzurri, scoring 20 goals along the way.

Name: Sulley Ali Muntari

Sulley Muntari made his career breakthrough with Udinese in 2002. He spent 5 years at the Serie A club before moving to England where he joined Portsmouth. After spending a season at Portsmouth, where he won the English FA Cup, Muntari was signed by Inter for 16 million Euro. Muntari has been capped 42 times for the Ghana national team and scored 12 goals for his Country. The midfielder will be looking to add the 27 appearances he made for Internazionale last season, although he could find first team oppertunities hard to come by should the other big names perform to their potential.

Patrick Viera is held is high regard by Arsenal fans. He is considered a legend of the club after making nearly 300 appearances for The Gunners. Since his departure, Viera has played for Juventus before joining Internazionale in 2006. It seems likely, however, that the French international midfielder will leave the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza as he appears to have fallen out of favour with head coach José Mourinho. Many clubs have been linked with the 33 year old, but for now Patrick Viera remains an Inter player.

Since his arrival at Inter in 2004, Dejan Stanković has become a key player in the current Internazionale side. Naturally a central midfielder, Stanković can also play as an attacking or defensive midfielder. The Serb has made over 150 appearances for Inter, and has scored 21 goals in 5 seasons. His most notable goals include his strike against rivals Milan in 2004, aswell as another goal against Milan during the 2006/07 season. His impressive performances for his club have made him a favourite with the Internazionale supporters. Stanković has now won every trophy possible in Italy, excluding the lower division titles. The 30 year old is also the captain of the Serbia national team, and has been capped over 80 times for his Country.

Mancini was first spotted playing for his local club, Atlético Mineiro. From there, he broke into Atlético Mineiro’s first team and made a number of impressive performances. 2003 was the year when Mancini finally made a move to a European club. He signed for AS Roma and won the Coppa Italia in 2007, as his side beat Inter in the final. It was Internazionale who signed the Brazilian winger in 2008, as Mancini signed a 4 year contract with the Serie A champions. The 28 year old found first team oppertunities hard to come by in his first season. Despite this, Mancini still scored 3 goals for the Nerazzurri and will be expecting to add to that tally in this season.

Name: Ricardo Quaresma

Quaresma is one of the most skillful attacking players in World football. His dribbling and ball striking technique make him a very good winger. When Quaresma was in the Sporting youth academy, he was rated better than Cristiano Ronaldo, however a move to Barcelona, where he played just 22 games, proved his downturn. A move back to Porto reignited his career and in the summer of 2008, Internazionale signed the Portuguese international only for Quaresma to make a mere 13 appearances for the Nerazzurri. In January he was loaned out to Chelsea where he featured 7 times for the Blues before returning to Inter for the 2009/10 season.

Motta made over 100 appearances for FC Barcelona between 2001 and 2007. Thiago Motta then joined Atletico Madrid where he spent one season, however he made just 6 appearances in an injury hampered season. After undergoing surgery on his knee, Motta returned to action and joined Serie A outfit Genoa. He scored 6 goals in 21 appearances for Genoa before officially completing a move to Internazionale in June. Although Motta is injury prone, he is a talented footballer and will be aiming to rediscover his best form at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza this season.
